Meet our team of

Supplemental Instruction Leaders

SI Leaders are here to support your success! They’re recommended by faculty for their strong performance in the course and trained to lead collaborative study sessions. SI Leaders attend lectures alongside you, take notes, and stay engaged as fellow students. Each week, they facilitate an SI session filled with interactive strategies to strengthen study skills and deepen understanding of the course material.

Typically, SI leaders are recommended by faculty who participate in the program. However, we also hire students who have not been directly recommended, provided they meet our hiring requirements.

  1. Take the Class and Earn an A: Students wishing to lead a specific course must have previously taken the class and earned an A.
  2. Maintain a Strong GPA: SI leaders must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4. The strongest candidates generally have a GPA of 3.6 or higher.
  3. Provide Two Letters of Recommendation: SI leaders who are not recommended by SI faculty members must provide two letters of recommendation from past or current UT professors.
  4. Have No Course Conflicts: SI leaders attend lectures alongside students and serve as the sole facilitator of SI sessions. Therefore, they must not have any conflicts with the SI course schedule.
